My plants are starting to get buds and I even got a flower, I'm so excited! For the longest time, I have envied those luscious bouquets of peonies at the farmers market. Last year, I finally decided to get my own bushes and they are taking off like crazy.

The buds are huge, and I absolutely love the flowers and the way they smell. I will be in peonies heaven when they all bloom!

Planter of all kinds~

Every time I see a rusted container I instantly think planter. Usually they are pretty cheap at sales and they look fantastic in flower beds. I found the large tool chest for $1.50 and couldn't pass it up. The others were less then a dollar. Not quite as pretty as the tool boxes below, but I think these will make great planters.
Adding the china and mixing up your flowers types, makes your planters all the more special.

I still need a few more things to add to my garden. I am heading out in the morning junkin with some friends, rummage sales seem to be in full BLOOM around my town!

Coffee sacks and burlap~

Found this great little place of inspiration RocknCoutour. They have bags and pillows made out of burlap and old coffee sacks, who would of thought burlap could be so elegant.

I picked up a few sacks last summer for a $1.00 each at an old hardware store. I wasn't sure what I was going to use them for, but now the projects can start.

Knock offs~

Who doesn't love looking through the Pottery Barn catalog, do you fall in love with almost everything in there?  They sell furniture, art, linens and even clothes pins as vase fillers. They have the most incredible things, but at a price.

I feel in love with this airplane art piece, it would look fantastic in my son's room but at $299.00 knew it wasn't in my budget. I come across this blog called Knock off Decor, they link you to others who have made these and give directions on how you can make your own for next to nothing.

They also have knock offs  from Anthropologie, Wisteria, Ballard Designs and more.  I found tons of ideas to put on my to do list.

Imitation is one of the highest forms of flattery!

Table dressings~

Are you always looking for ideas of ways to dress your dinning, hall or coffee table? Maybe friends are coming over or you just cleaned the house and want something pretty on your table.  These ideas would work on you outdoor tables as well.

I love the ribbon wrapped around this glass container below, it has some many possibilities. You could use any color of ribbon to coordinate with you flower color and or theme of your room or occasion.
Everyone has some kind of glass containers laying around.  Could be different size jars or glass bottles, put some greens in them from around your yard and you have a great arrangement.
Artichokes are the coolest, even just a few with some other greens would make big statement.  They look great in a large bowl too!
I am always looking for inspiration, leave me a comment with your link.  I enjoy reading all of your blogs and leaving comments.

Easter Treats~

The Easter treats on blog land are incredible!

Love the front and the back side of the bunny on these frosted rice kripy squares. Look at the marshmallow bunnies dipped in chocolate. You can find out how she did it at  Love from the oven.
Frugal Mama, made these cute little nest cupcakes with the robins eggs. These would make great table centerpieces on white plates or even cake plates at different heights.

The pink ones have to be the most beautiful cookeis I have ever seen.
Last but not least William Sonoma's iced cookies. W.S. always makes a great cookie, right up my alley as they come ready to eat without the mess or time.

Love of Laundry~

While looking for a little inspiration for my laundry area in my old basement, I ran across these images. These laundry rooms are gorgeous. I love the use of jars for laundry soap, plants and bright windows. chandeliers, beautiful cabinets and that farm house sink is fabulous!

Wouldn't it be great to have more then one washer and dryer? I seem to have to wait for the dryer a lot.

The one above is my favorite, it's just kind of walk by laudry room and I can only image the rest of the house. Truly stunning I'm sure!

what's under your cloche?

I have at least 10 of these in my house. Mostly glass, but I do have a couple of wire ones. They seem to all have a common theme in my house, birds nests with eggs underneath.

I have traveled the web to see what others are putting under their cloches, and I found some pretty great ideas. I have a collection of old clocks so that will definatly be one I use.

Love the plants underneath.

The rusty ones would look great just about any place.

Great idea to add a touch of elegance to your cloche during the holidays with Christmas balls!

If you have some great ideas to share, I'd love to hear from you.

Spring salad~

This is one of my all time favorite salads, it's easy to make and goes great with just about anything.

Here's what you will need:

1 box small ring marconi
1/2 green pepper cut into small pieces
1 cucumber cut in to small pieces(unpeeled)
1/2 package of fresh sugar snap peas(cut into rings)
2 cups cabbage- I like to use the coleslaw mix, but you could buy cabbage and chop
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup mayo
1/3 cup white vinegar
1/4 of an onion cut into small pieces

First make the dressing by mixing the mayo, sugar and vinegar together.

Next in a large bowl put the rest of your ingrediatnts- mix throughly, then toss with dressing- refrigerate 1 hour then serve.

The ring

For some time now, I have keep in my mind the story I read in Ann Launders regarding a family ring.   While I can not remember the details, the story was very moving to me and had such a beautiful ending.  I tried to google it without much luck, so if any of you happen to be big Ann Launders fans and know what I am talking about please send me a copy.

The story was about a group of sisters that all wanted their mothers wedding ring after she passed away.  Being unable to decide who should get the ring they decided to share it.  They each got a turn to wear the ring for a period of time and then they would send it on to the next.  I believe they picked a special date to send it out each year, like a birthday or something like that.  They each waited for their turn to wear this ring ,but also looked forward to sending it on to the next person.

Recently my father passed away and we had a similar situation like this with a antique gold medallion.  While we all decided we didn't want to sell it and split the money, we couldn't decide who the medallion belonged with.  I recalled this Ann Launders story about the ring and bought up the idea to share it.  My sisters loved the idea, and we worked out a plan. We each will get the medallion to display in our homes for a year and then on my fathers birthday each year we send it on.

My turn starts in May and I can not wait to get my special package.

Spring time~

With all of the April showers in our area, we are hoping for lots of May flowers.

Spring is an exiting time of year for me, planting my garden, the start of rummage sales and knowing summer is right around the corner. Between rummage sales, flea markets and resale shops I hope to find a number of these things to make wind chimes, planters and a tea cup bird feeder for my yard.

Love these old boots! I have seen them with Hens & Chicks- but this is too cute!

I am looking for a vintage bike with a basket- we have a large fenced in yard and I think it would look great up against the fence.

I love the wind chimes below, these are a bit simpler and would look great hanging low in a tree.

Until next time~ DM
